This project in Frankfurt am Main is a wonderful example of the wonders of E-design. Having been matched with my client, we scheduled our kick off call over skype. When the time came for our call, my client was broken down on the motorway waiting for help with his car and was happy to pass the time by doing our initial consultation there and then!
Notes from our consultation was to go for a classic look that is minimal with white preferred over black for this open plan space. The room should be functional but comfortable at the same time providing somewhere comfortable to have a glass of wine and admire the river view and a place to dine and entertain guests.
The material finishes chosen for the concept were gentle grey and bright white as a base, with light wood tones (oak-ash), grey to cream and beige base for textiles with some colours added through the rug and green/blue and yellow along with black matte as an accent colour. The title for the concept we decided on was Scandinavian Cosiness meets Masculine Modern.
I chose one of my all time favourite sofas for the living space offering such a clean aesthetic with maximium comfort. The chaise sofa is made mainly from virgin wool with removable struts on the frame making the components modulor, a concept of furniture that allows it to evolve with you and your lifestyle changes.
I added over 20 new pieces of furniture/decor to the scheme. Amongst my favourites were the oak dining table, knotted cushion, low hanging dining table lights and the green lacquered side table. Some others were a media unit, bookcase, dining chairs,
With a little colour added in through textiles and artwork..
The results show a young but sophisticated open plan scheme that is masculine, functional and minimal enough for the its homeowners needs.
